Thane (Maharashtra) [India], October 17: When there is even the slightest concern about the heart, people often turn to two sources of reassurance – faith in the Almighty and trust in medical expertise.

What if these two powerful beliefs could come together to inspire greater awareness about heart health?

This human insight inspired Tagnam Communications, Thane, a specialised healthcare communications agency, to conceive and design an innovative campaign for Rotary Club of Hiranandani IVAN, connecting a cherished cultural tradition with an important public health message.

AN OPPORTUNITY HIDDEN IN THE CALENDAR

September 2026 presented an interesting convergence – Ganeshotsav and World Heart Day were being observed in the same month.

For Tagnam Communications, this offered an opportunity to take heart-health awareness beyond conventional advertising and engage people through an occasion deeply rooted in the community’s cultural and emotional life.

During Ganeshotsav, devotees visit pandals seeking Lord Ganesha’s blessings for themselves and their loved ones. The campaign encouraged them to extend those wishes to the wider community.

At the Ganpati pandal at Princeton-Polaris Ground, Hiranandani Estate, Thane, devotees were invited to express one shared wish:

Healthier hearts for all.

TURNING FAITH INTO PARTICIPATION

Members and families of Rotary Club of Hiranandani IVAN distributed small pieces of red cloth, symbolising the heart. Devotees were invited to write a message, sign their name or leave their mark before placing the cloth in a specially created drop box.

The response exceeded expectations, with more than 700 people participating.

Each piece carried a personal expression. These were subsequently stitched together to create one large Healthy Heart Flag, representing the collective wishes of the participating devotees.

The flag became the centrepiece of a campaign that transformed individual participation into a memorable symbol of public health awareness.

FROM FAITH TO HEART-HEALTH ACTION

The initiative culminated on World Heart Day 2026, when the Healthy Heart Flag was ceremonially unfurled by doctors at a leading hospital in Thane.

The occasion also provided an opportunity to reinforce the importance of preventive cardiac care. Cardiologists shared practical guidance on maintaining heart health through healthy lifestyle choices, regular monitoring and timely medical attention.

Representing Rotary Club of Hiranandani IVAN were Club President Rtn. Sanjeev Chopra, Club Secretary Rtn. Mukul Srivastava and Rtn. H. K. Gupta. Rtn. Aditi Bhattacharjee, Rtn. S. K. Chaudhary, Rtn. C.N.Shetty and Rtn. Subhabrata Basak also actively supported the initiative at the Ganpati pandal.

WHEN THE COMMUNITY BECOMES THE MESSAGE

What distinguished the campaign was its participatory approach.

Rather than simply receiving a health-awareness message, devotees contributed to its creation. The resulting flag belonged as much to the community as to the organisations behind the initiative.

The Healthy Heart Flag was not simply created for the community. It was created by the community.

For Rotary Club of Hiranandani IVAN, the project reflected its commitment to preventive healthcare and community service, while making an important health issue accessible to people across age groups.

For Tagnam Communications, it illustrated the potential of insight-led healthcare communication to engage audiences through experiences that are culturally relevant, emotionally meaningful and easy to participate in.

CREATIVITY WITH A PURPOSE

The Healthy Heart Flag campaign demonstrated how creative thinking can give a public health message greater relevance by connecting it with people’s everyday lives.

By bringing together a community organisation, a healthcare communications agency and medical professionals, the initiative created a distinctive platform for encouraging conversations around cardiovascular well-being.

More than 700 individual expressions. One Healthy Heart Flag. One enduring reminder that healthier hearts begin with awareness and everyday action.
